The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) has received a $10,000 grant from the University of the Aftermarket Foundation to use towards its scholarship program. With the help of this grant, the WB will give out a record amount of scholarships in 2016 to deserving high school and college female students looking to enter the auto care industry.
“Each year we strive to help more and more students achieve their career goals and enjoy seeing the diverse paths they chose to take,” said Amy Mattinat, president, Car Care Council Women’s Board. “We are honored to receive this support and recognition from an established industry foundation.”
The WB scholarship program began in 2006 and in 2015 gave out $28,000 to eight post-secondary and high school students studying to enter the auto care industry. Each year, the Becky Babcox Women’s Board scholarship winner is awarded a trip to the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, Nev.
Funds for the scholarship program are raised through donations, WB sponsorships and through an annual fundraising event. This year the WB will hold a 5k/Fun Run, Scholarship Strides, during the 2016 Winter Leadership Conference.
All donations from the recently published “A Women’s Perspective on Leadership,” an essay anthology by female leaders in the industry, will also go towards 2016 WB scholarships. Order a copy of the book.
