Summer Leadership Conference Recap
Women of the Year Awards
Dear Women’s Board Associates and Supporters,
To those of you that missed the Summer Leadership Conference in Denver… I’m so sorry for your loss! I am thrilled to tell you that this was by far THE BEST conference yet. We had excellent speakers, a special Young Auto Care Network Group (YANG) session, lots of networking and a wicked fun outing at the Forney Museum of Transportation. We also raised $1,370 for our scholarship fund with a spirited raffle.
Each event we seem to raise the bar a little higher. After this last conference I will predict that the Winter Conference next February is going to be spectacular. I advise that you mark your calendar right now for Feb. 10-11, 2016 and don’t wait until the last minute to register, as the Summer Conference sold out.
Wow, what a year it has been so far! Two leadership conferences with record breaking attendance, a new record of $28,000 given away in scholarships, a rapidly growing and successful mentor program and Women’s Board sponsors have nearly doubled!
A big thank you to Women Board associates, Kathleen Schmatz, president and CEO, Auto Care Association; Laura Soave, senior VP, chief marketing and communications officer, Federal Mogul; Amy Bonder, VP, sales, Bridgestone Retail Operations; Kathy Jorge, winner of the 2014 Auto Care Woman of Excellence; and Bogi Latenier, the 2014 Woman Shop Owner of the Year for sharing their time, experience and knowledge about their careers in the industry. Everyone was inspired and learned a lot!
We also had fun surprising Kathleen Schmatz with a champagne toast to wish her all the best in her retirement!
The year isn’t over yet. Save the date for our reception and press conference on Tuesday, Nov 3 at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas, Nev. It is THE Women’s Networking Event at AAPEX and a great place to bring potential members, show your company the value of being a sponsor and, of course, congratulate the winners of the 2015 Automotive Communications Awards and Women of the Year awards.
Finally, a big shout out and thank you to our sponsors who help make all of this exciting growth possible.
I look forward to seeing everyone in Las Vegas and/or Orlando in the coming months! In the meantime, stay connected with day-to-day updates and interesting news with our open Facebook group.
All my best,
Your Women’s Board President
