Chart: Channels of Distribution

Chart: Channels of Distribution

To gain a little better understanding of the various market channels that deliver parts to the end user, this is a great quick look at all the possibilities in the auto care industry. Although at first glance it may be overwhelming, you too can quickly figure it out if you follow the lines and remember there are three major areas of distribution:

1. Traditional market – the two-steppers and three-steppers, warehouse distributors (WDs) and jobbers;
2. Retail market – establishments where retail sales comprise more than 50 percent of total sales;
3. Special markets – companies that restrict its appeal to a specific type of merchandise like e-tailing, import specialists, international business, collision, original equipment suppliers (OES) and more. And don’t forget our friends in the buying groups.

Take a look!
